| Vision Committee Recommendations The Fresh Vision Committee (Long Range Planning) brought the following recommendations to the church this past Sunday morning. Following a time of questions and answers Sunday evening, August 29, and then again on Wednesday evening, September 1, members will vote on the recommendations during the morning worship service Sunday, September 12. Here are the committee’s 13 recommendations: We recommend the mission statement for VBC be “Leading people to be consumed by the love of Christ.” We recommend a fresh emphasis on prayer. We recommend our church engage in community ministry actions to demographic groups within a five-mile radius of our church. We recommend intentionally sharing more positive information about our church through all available means to our community. We recommend our church move toward a more dynamic atmosphere in our time of worship. We recommend the expansion of our projection system. We recommend that each Sunday School department provide a special Sunday morning outreach event during the Sunday School hour. We recommend that our current “visitation” structure be renamed “outreach” and each Sunday School department have flexibility to develop and fulfill their own measurable outreach strategy. We recommend that all youth and adult members learn and use their spiritual gifts using a proven Christian-based survey. We recommend a standing Discipleship Ministry Team be established to assist the Minister of Education. We recommend a Ministry Network be established within the church. We recommend a renewed Cooperative Program educational emphasis. We recommend that the Church Council be reactivated according to the church constitution. |
